“MITAT Best Investigator Award” for research on the clinical use of HoloLens
At the joint conference SMIT2018-IBEC2018 in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Egidijus Pelanis presented research on the use of Microsoft HoloLens for liver surgery planning.
The aim of the research was to compare and show the advantage of mixed reality in clinical routines, which is based on the HoloViz application.
The study was conducted by Dr. Egidijus Pelanis and Dr. Rahul Kumar (project manager of HoloViz) during the 6th national congress of Young Surgeons of the Hungarian Surgical Association (FISESZ), where participants were asked to assign segment localization for liver lesions in both MRI images and HoloLens. The results showed equal accuracy and significantly decreased the time for a clinical task by the use of HoloLens.
The study is expected to be published by early 2019.
